With confirmation that the long overdue crime drama television series “Prison Break” Season 5 will air in 2017, after a seven-year lapse, it comes as no surprise that fans are going wild with speculations for the new season. The upcoming season promises to be a sequel to its preceding season but will have a completely new look to it.

Mobile & Apps reported that Dana Walden, Fox co-chairman and CEO, revealed the possibility of changing the show’s name to “Heroes: Reborn”. Walden portrayed “Prison Break” Season 5 to be a sequel and will pick up from several years after the end of Season 4. Many major actors and actresses will make a comeback in this new season playing their respective original roles in the show.

Christian Today reported some confirmed truth about “Prison Break” Season 5. As can be seen from the trailer, Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) is actually still alive and had ended up in a prison in Yemen. Hence, the new season will chronicle the rescue of Michael by a team led by his brother, Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) with the help of returning characters like Fernando Sucre (Amaury Nolasco), C-Note (Rockmond Dunbar), and Sara Tancredi (Sarah Wayne Callies).

Movie News Guide takes a closer look at Theodore ‘T-Bag’ Bagwell’s (Robert Knepper) ulterior motive in relaying information of Michael’s status and his whereabouts to Lincoln. According to MNG, T-Bag has unfinished business in Yemen and wants to rescue someone else who is also in the same prison as Michael. His true intention of revealing Michael’s location is so that a rescue team will be created and he could leverage on this to fulfill his own goals.

"Prison Break" Season 5 will air in Spring 2017, on FOX.
