NBA Trade Rumors: Rudy Gay to the Oklahoma City Thunder?

After losing NBA superstar Kevin Durant to the Golden State Warriors in free agency, the Oklahoma City Thunder are now lacking that star-caliber scorer in their small forward position. In their roster, the only small forwards that they have are Andre Roberson and newly-acquired Jerami Grant, they is no Kevin Durant in the offensive side but both are tremendous at the defensive end.

The Thunder needs to make a move now if they really want to have a team that could contend for a championship. Their team is led by Russell Westbrook, who is an MVP candidate this season. He is putting up insane numbers this season with 31.6 points, 10.4 assists and 9.7 rebounds per game. They also have a great supporting cast with Steven Adams, Enes Kanter and Victor Oladipo to name a few.

The sad thing is Russell Westbrook cannot do it all. He is averaging a near triple-double but the Oklahoma City Thunder is 8-6 and only good for 6th in the Western Conference.

Now we have this scenario, according to reports the Thunder are still interested in trading for Sacramento Kings star Rudy Gay. And it might not be a bad idea after all.

Reports are saying that the Oklahoma City Thunder is now interested in "bigger wings" that could allow shooting guard Victor Oladipo to move into that sixth man role and Andre Roberson back to that starting shooting guard spot.

The Thunder offered the Sacramento Kings 2nd year guard Cameron Payne for Rudy Gay but Payne broke his foot and the deal was not accepted..

If the deal gets through fans could expect a very much improved Thunder team - they get a versatile and a proven scorer in Rudy Gay. This season he has been averaging 20.5 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.
