Star-Studded Forces In All Of Cinematic History: Marvel’s Black Panther Welcomes Angela Bassett

Marvel Studios announced today that the 58-year-old American actress who starred on the most recent season of American Horror Story, Angela Bassett, has joined the cast of Marvel's film adaptation of "Black Panther"The Black Panther is a fictional superhero which is created by writer-editor Stan Lee and co-plotter Jack Kirby.

 

The Oscar-nominated actress will play Romanda, the "stepmother" of T'Challa (Black Panther) played by Chadwick Boseman. T'Challa actual mother died while giving birth to the marvel superhero. This isn't her first comic-movie role, as she also starred as Amanda Waller in Green Lantern.

It was said that in October, Forest Whitaker joined the Black Panther cast as Zuri, an elder statesman. Then, reports came out Winston Duke taking on the role of villain M'Baku and Michael B. Jordan playing Erik Killmonger.

According to the director, the inspiration for the film is coming directly from the current run of Black Panther comics. Director Ryan Coogler called writer Ta-Nehisi Coates' run on Black Panther "just incredible" during San Diego Comic Con.

According to the ET, the project also represents a significant moment for superhero films, not only it is the first major black superhero to get his own film, but his story will shift the narrative to Africa, albeit in a fictionalized country.

 

Together with Angela Bassett, Chadwick Boseman will star in the title role with Forest Whitaker, Creed star Michael B. Jordan, The Walking Dead's Danai Gurira, Lupita Nyong'o, Black Mirror breakout Daniel Kaluuya, Winston Duke and Florence Kasumba.

Thus, Marvel returned with a vengeance and has a lot of stuff to show: Black Panther, Thor: Ragnarok, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and even Captain Marvel.

For sure, everyone is excited and has been waiting out for its trailer and movie release which will be out in theaters on the 16th of February, 2018 in development with Ryan Coogler directing and filming as well as script writing together with Joe Robert Cole.
