‘The Walking Dead’ Season 7 Episode 5 Recap: Will There Be A New Hilltop Leader?
Since "The Walking Dead" season 7 premiered its very first episode until the most current one, the TV series has been introducing a whole lot of new characters, their leaders, and how they live. From the current state of Alexandria after Negan being the new person 'in charge,' from introducing the fans to The Kingdom and King Ezekiel, and the Hilltop being under Negan's hands.
On the fifth episode of "The Walking Dead," Maggie wakes up at the Hilltop and Dr. Carson greets her. On the season's first episode, Maggie, accompanied by Sasha, was going to the Hilltop to see Dr. Carson since she has experienced intense abdominal pains because of her pregnancy.
Dr. Carson has been monitoring her pregnancy, as described by Entertainment Weekly. The site also described that it's not easy to be pregnant while in an apocalypse and Maggie learns from Dr. Carson that she had a placental abruption but assures her that her baby is safe. In line with this, Dr. Carson advices that Maggie needs to stay at the Hilltop so he can continuously monitor her and make sure that her pregnancy is safe.
Maggie goes out of Dr. Carson's clinic and is greeted by Sasha who was looking out for Glenn and Abraham's graves. Sasha hands over Glenn's pocket watch to her and Maggie placed it on top of Glenn's grave, telling Sasha what Dr. Carson has advised her.
While they were talking, Jesus comes in, placing flowers on top of the graves. Gregory, Hilltop's leader, disrupts them and tells them that her people have promised that they will rid the Hilltop of its Negan problem but made is worse instead. Gregory orders that Maggie and Sasha should leave the Hilltop the next day.
That eveining, Sasha and Maggie wakes up to a loud noise. When they look outside, they see fire, a car playing loud music, the gates open, and walkers coming in. Luckily, Jesus, Sasha and Maggie takes them all and saves the night.
The next day, the Saviors go back to the Hilltop to get their offering. Simon asks Gregory to kneel before him before they leave, and when he does, Jesus knew that the Hilltop needs a new leader, according to The Telegraph.
Carl and Enid reach the Hilltop, and Enid was the only one who showed up. Right after the Saviors left the Hilltop, Sasha talks to Jesus on how he can repay them for helping the night before. Sasha asks Jesus if he can find out where the Saviors live. The episode ends with Jesus sneaking in one of the Saviors' trucks and finds out that he was not alone. Carl is in there too.
