'Moana' Unveils New Disney Princess Character; Focuses On Lessons About Friendship, Forgiveness and Acceptance
Who would have thought that another Disney Princess comes anew in the upcoming film, "Moana". This vibrant teenager is way too far from the established images of conventional Disney Princess. Way beyond flowing dresses, shining crowns and dainty shoes- her character can be associated with the unconventional Disney's ladies, Pocahontas and Miranda (Brave). The film, a full computer generated animation, talks about a bold young lady who took all the risk and dare for a mission to save her people.
"Moana's" character will be voiced by the 15-year old American Actress Auli'i Cravalho. The film follows "Moana's" journey, meeting 'Maui' the demigod considered full of might, voiced by Dwayne Johnson. This man will guide her leadership quest. The adventure begins as the two braves the sea together for a quest to be a master.
The twist in plot appeared when Moana's clan and tribe dampen the heart of the bold young lass from leaving the comforts of their lush island. She dreams of having an adventurous life and wants to go away from the family. With this in mind, her father disagrees. And so just like any other 'Princess' duties, Moana will sing her yearnings for an exciting journey.
The disgraced 'Maui' for some reason will put "Moana's island in danger. His presence unlocks the key to more action-packed scenes. And as the travel goes, the young woman is accompanied colorful sidekicks, anyone would love, a 'who would have thought' another cutesy adorable pig named Pua, who shows a lot of help to the lead star. Hei Hei the glassy eyed chicken also perks up the film, and of course, the half-mentor, half-villain, comic demigod, 'Maui'. It has been reported that Johnson's animated eyebrow expressions were generated on the face of the cartoon character, thus giving a perfect combination.
"Moana" is under the finest directors Ron Clements and John Musker. The film also features all new original songs under the craft of Lin-Manuel Miranda. This Disney story highlights the value of friendship, forgiveness and acceptance. Truly worth the watch. Opens in Cinemas, November 23, 2016.
