More Genders Options on Tinder: Best Idea On How To Reflect Your Identity; Dating Platform Updates!
People using Tinder had only two options for their gender, male or female. But after years of criticisms for not making it inclusive of all genders and sexual preferences, Tinder has now finally added more options for gender to its dating application where people are allowed to identify as transgender women, transgender man or no gender at all.
Tinder chief executive and co-founder Sean Rad wanted it to be better for everyone. Its goal is to provide a product that gives our transgender and gender non-conforming users a better experience on Tinder. Sean Rad said that they're really excited about the update and believed it is the right step to take as a company to create more meaningful connections between all of our users.
Having a "dream team" composed of influencers, activists and organizations like GLAAD, who aims to lead the conversation in the media around lesbian, bisexual, gay, transgender and queer people is the first big step in the update. According to Nick Adams, GLAAD's director of transgender affairs that he really do think that when a major company like Tinder, which has tens of millions of users, sends a message that trans-people are welcome and won't stand for bullying or harassment, and it really does send a very important message.
The app is usually used as a dating app. Tinder has expanded out to provide more services and making it more like of a general social media app. The application was launched during the year 2012, and after two years from its launching, it was getting about one billion swipes per day. Tinder was among the first of "swiping apps" where the users use a swiping motion to choose among the photos of the other users.
Last October 2016, Tinder had made an announcement that they were opening its first office in Silicon Valley hoping for the better in recruiting technical employees which at the same time, provides job opportunities to everyone which they might be qualified.
