Legendary Video Games ‘Overwatch' And 'Uncharted 4' Dominate Game Awards 2016 Nominations, Find Out The Other Nominees!
Nominations for "The Game Awards" are officially in. Unsurprisingly, the two most-nominated titles are Naughty Dog's "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" and Blizzard Entertainment's "Overwatch."
"Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" leads in overall nominations with a total of eight, spread across six categories. Voice actors Emily Rose, Nolan North and Troy Baker all scored nominations for the Best Performance category, according to Mashable. Both "Overwatch" and "Uncharted" are particularly notable given how thoroughly they dominate the acting, art and storytelling nominations
"Overwatch" follows with six nominations in as many categories. It also rivals with "Uncharted 4" on the prestigious Game of the Year category, as well as Best Esports Game and Best Multiplayer.
Indie games also dominated the competition. Playdead's "Inside" and Campo Santo's "Firewatch" both have obtained five nominations. It can also be noted that "Inside" is the lone indie in the running for Game of the Year. Meanwhile, both will compete in the Best Independent Game category.
Most nominees are selected by a panel of 28 media outlets and other influencers. The three eSports category selections come from eight eSports-focused outlets. The full list of categories and nominees can be found here.
There are nominees for the best VR game, eSports player, eSports title, fan-made content and trending gamer (think YouTubers like Jacksepticeye or Danny O'Dwyer).
As of now, Voting is now open in five fan-decided categories. All votes must be cast by Nov. 30. The Game Awards winners will be selected on Thursday, Dec. 1, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
Unfortunately, no TV broadcast would be available, but the show will be available for live streaming on The Game Awards website as well as a wide variety of other social and gaming platforms, including the "NextVR" virtual reality app.
