Marvel Comics Partners With ABC For 'Inhumans' Series In Summer 2017
Fans of Marvel Comic books will have another treat of a science fiction TV series beginning in fall of 2017 with eight episodes for the first season, according to reports. "Inhumans," a portrayal of the planet earth some millions years in the past.
The first two episodes of "Inhumans" will premiere for two weeks in IMAX theaters in 2017 summer before the entire show will be aired on ABC by September for the remaining six episodes. This recent project is also the first time for IMAX as a financing partner for TV series including TV pilot, according to Marvel.
"This unprecedented alliance represents a bold, innovative approach to launching great TV content for a worldwide audience," said Ben Sherwood, president for Disney/ABC Television Group and co-chairman of Disney Media Networks. "It highlights Disney/ABC's unrelenting commitment to finding new and creative ways to showcasing our very best programming and increasing global engagement and reach," Sherwood continued.
Meanwhile, Dan Buckley, president of Marvel Television, Publishing & Brand said the whole team is excited that it is part of a "groundbreaking initiative." Earlier, there were reports about a film adaptation of "Inhumans" which will supposedly begin in 2019, but producers have already abandoned the idea and instead, invest on a TV series.
"Inhumans" will join other Marvel comics already adapted on TV series on ABC. A report from Hollywood Reporter says ABC cancelled the "Agent Carter" series after showing two seasons. Marvel is reportedly collaborating with Hulu for a different project based on comics and has an existing project with Netfilx. The comic studio is also set for a future project with FX for X-Men spinoff, "Legion."
"Inhumans" is about the "superhuman" race with "Inhuman Royal Family" as the center of the plot. The comic takes you to a war between the empires Kree and Skrull.
