Most Popular Americans Revealed: Obama And Clinton Crowned "Most Admired" by Gallup
The top two are still on the top. Although 2014 was rocky for the Democrats, the former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the current President Barack Obama are still the "most admired man and woman in America", outrunning the close competitors, ie Oprah Winfrey, First Lady Michelle Obama, Sarah Palin, Pope Francis and former President Bill Clinton, according to abcnews.
So the Gallup's annual poll results are out.
For the past 17 out of 18 years, Hillary Clinton has been the "most admired" except in 2001, when the First Lady, Laura Bush was elected as the top-ranker, after the 9/11 attacks on WTC.
However, Clinton's popularity has been declining, even though she is on the Number 1 position. She got 12 percent of the vote this year. In 2012, she had 21 percent of people choosing her, but in 2013, the number declined 15 percent.
In the list of the top 10 women, the others were Oprah Winfrey, Malala Yousafzai, Condoleezza Rice and First Lady Michelle Obama. However, her rating has dropped by one percent since last year. The others are Sarah Palin, Angelina Jolie and Kate Middleton, who made the list with 2 percent of the vote each. Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, one of the promising hopefuls of the Democratic Party is also in the list. Each has drawn in a 1 percent of the vote, along with Laura Bush.
In the men's list, President Obama tops it. In the President's seventh year, he tops the "most admired" list, which is not too surprising, as "sitting presidents" have typically bagged that award.
He got 19 percent of the vote, which is a boost of 3 percent since last year. "Obama has been most admired man in each of the last seven years, beginning with 2008, the year he was elected president," according to Gallup Poll.
He is followed by Pope Francis, Bill Clinton and Rev. Bill Graham, who has made it to the top 10 list about a record 58 times, according to Gallup.
Other men in the list include Dr. Ben Carson, astrophysicist Stephen Hawking, Bill Gates, Bill O'Reilly, Benjamin Netanyahu and Vladimir Putin.
