Google Revamps Google Play Music Adding Machine Learning & Mind Reading Features; Custom Content Recommendations Added

Google introduced a revamped Google Play Music streaming service and the company added improvements recently discovered in the music industry. Google is popular for its personalized approach to providing services to users - from filtering e-mail messages differentiating between work, spam, social, and the like, to chatting with Google Now about latest scorecards. Google is offering the same feature to Google Play Music: music customization.

Google added custom content recommendations in the relaunched Google Play Music, and it is even more intelligent than other streaming services in the market today. The company added a machine learning algorithm that figures out what users like to play. If Spotify has "Discover Weekly" playlist that enables users to choose playlists based on what was previously listened to, and Apple Music features a "For You" tab which outlines the songs that listeners might like, Google Play Music now has content recommendations based on users' data collected by Google.

Each time users launch Google Play Music, the app will show new content recommendations that the user might like in that particular situation. The machine learning technology used in the revamped app uses hints such as location, weather, and activity to match the mood of the moment.

Google Play Music is a mind-reading music provider which has been in the works since 2014 when Google acquired Songza. The revamped app will feature offline listening, but with a twist. The new Google Play Music update will automatically download songs previously played by users, a feature that is similar to that of Pandora's $5 top-up for offline listening. It will also be wearing new user interface.

While users will still be able to manage the music library, playlists, and access to other songs, Google simply wants users to conveniently do away with browsing thousands of music selections by offering up content recommendations instead.
