'The Walking Dead' Season 7, Episode 4 Recap: Negan Being Negan
SPOILER ALERT: Stop reading if you do not want to know any spoilers from "The Walking Dead" Season 7, epsiode 4. The next paragraphs contains spoilers.
As recapped by The Telegraph, many events occured on the fourth episode that had left many questions as to what will happen next. Here are the highlights of the 75-minute episode, including breaks. Negan bullies his way into Alexandria earlier than expected, takes more than he originally promised, terrorizes two of the women, and leaves the community with nothing but a mix of fear, anger, and despair.
1. Negan truly enjoys being a villain persona
"Little pig, little pig... let me in," the Saviours boss taunted as he and his crew arrived to strip Alexandria bare with all the mattresses which they set ablaze on a roadside. He had of course brought his baseball bat "Lucille" and seemed disappointed when Rick and friends meekly relent. Negan is looking for an excuse to crack more skulls. The closest he came was a stand-off with Carl (Chandler Riggs) over the safe zone's medical supplies.
2. Daryl as Negan's dog
Rick was introduced to Negan's new servant, Daryl (Norman Reedus). "He's the help - you don't look at him, you don't talk to him," said Negan, speaking of Daryl as if he was his loyal pet.
3. Rick is weak
"You don't decide what we take," Negan told Rick after the sheriff offered half the colony's supplies. "I do." The expression on Rick's face - humiliation mixed with helplessness - suggested that there truly was no way back for him. Michonne, Rosita and Spencer are among the Alexandria residents at least open to the idea of resisting the Saviours. But with Rick rolling over for Negan, clearly they cannot rely on their leader for guidance.
4: Dwight is back to being a villain
Dwight, the scarred henchman became mean and nasty again as the Saviours descended on Alexandria, humiliating Rosita (Christian Serratos) by briefly stealing her really cool hat and sending her into the wilderness unarmed to retrieve Daryl's bike.
5. Maggie has left for the Hilltop
Negan expressly shows he had a "thing" for Maggie - apparently he has a "thing" for widows in the early stages of grief. He appeared genuinely shock and somehow sad to hear that, after Glenn's death, she had passed away. Actually, her grave was just a hasty mock-up cobbled together by Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) to save Maggie. Meanwhile, Rick and company we missing some guns based on their official tally, making Negan suspicious.
Suprisingly, Spencer (Austin Nichols) was revealed to have stashed the guns with a party-pack of whisky and treats.
7. Rosita to replace Rick?
With the majority of Alexandria's residents thoroughly cowed, Rosita was one of the last rebels in town. She had recovered a firearm from the wilderness and was keeping it close to hand. Eugene looks around for bullets to be provided.
