'Dota 2' Tournament News & Updates: The Summit 6 Schedule, Bracket, And Contenders Announced
Defense of the Ancients 2's (DotA 2) premier tournament, The Summit 6, is finally back. With a massive prize pool of $100,000, The Summit 6 begins November 16. Read the details on brackets, schedule and teams competing as it is announced.
This Season Contending Teams
The prior Summit 5 defending champions, "Wings Gaming," who also recently won two LAN events after The International 6, is directly and automatically invited for this season. "Digital Chaos," "Evil Geniuses", and "OG" also received direct invites. Regional qualifiers are "EHome," "Team Faceless," "Virtus Pro" and Team "NP."
Brackets
The eight teams will compete to be part of the best-of-three double elimination brackets. Winners will proceed to the second round while losers have to find their way back up through lower bracket. The grand finals will be a best-of-five match which will determine the champions in this season.
Schedule
The Summit 6 will start its first day on November 16 with the upper bracket matches until November 17. The third and fourth days are matches between teams in the lower bracket. In the last day, November 20, is the grand final match of the tournament. The Summit 6 champion will enjoy the cash prize worth the $42,500. The full schedule is available here.
Talents and Commentators
ODPixel will be again expected to be present this season. KotLGuy, Fogged, Merlini, Charlie, and GrandGrant will also be in the scene. PPD will also take part instead of playing for "Evil Geniuses."
The Summit is a LAN tournament series run by Beyond The Summit. It is known for its fun atmosphere showcasing backstage events and laid back couch commentary. Since its founding in March 2012, Beyond The Summit has organized, hosted and commentated many of Dota 2's most prestigious tournaments, including Valve's $18.4 million The International 2015, The Summit, ESL Frankfurt, Starladder 8-13, MLG Columbus, Dreamhack Winter, & Alienware Cup.
The Summit 6 will be held in the BTS house, Los Angeles, USA and begins November 16.
