‘Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare’ Review, Dull and Boring?

"Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" has been dubbed as one of the most controversial games in Activision's long-running franchise. The game offers a futuristic space-age setting and the publisher's decision to bundle a remastered version of "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" with the Legacy Edition, which led to widespread outrage across the internet. The question is, does all the backlash necessary?

"Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare" was reviewed by iDigitalTimes as a bad game. Although the reviewer said that the worst game released in 2016, some would still argue that honor goes to No Man's Sky, but "Infinite Warfare" wipes out any momentum the series regained in the three years since Ghosts left fans wondering where it all went wrong," iDigitalTimes said.

The newest installment is split into its usual three sections: the campaign, competitive multiplayer and cooperative Zombies mode. The campaign offers the best look at the changes introduced but was also the least interesting portion of the game.

The game's new additions, from zero-G gunfights to dogfighting, were described as "incredibly underwhelming". There was no much difference than your average engagement, except players have a grappling hook they can use to quickly grab cover or close distance with an enemy.

Forbes, however, described "Infinite Warfar" as a good game. "It's formulaic and straightforward, but what it lacks in imagination it makes up for in tight gameplay and gorgeous visuals," Forbes said. "Soundtrack is admittedly pretty great, featuring songs from period-appropriate artists like Run D.M.C. and Frankie Goes To Hollywood, but it's not enough to keep Zombies interesting."

A review by Independent.co.uk stated that there are no new exciting game modes; the weapons system is basically the same just with new clothing, and the maps feel oddly familiar. The primary difference comes from choosing your Combat Rig, AKA your class specialism. Each Rig features a special power it can use after you have killed enough other players. Each Rig is also meant to change the way you play - i.e. making your movement smoother or heavier - but the effects are so small it basically feels like choosing a different perk rather than complete system setup.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is currently available on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
