Oprah Hopeful After President-Elect Trump Says 'He Has Respect For Pres Obama,' Says Report
Media mogul and TV show host Oprah Winfrey said everybody can take a deep breath now, after President-elect Donald Trump visited the White House on Thursday and was welcomed by President Barack Obama. In an interview, the the black American 62-year old Winfrey who supported Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton, said the news that President-elect Trump and President Barack Obama met at the White House must have been a "humbling experience."
Oprah said she saw the incumbent and the next leader of the United States and expressed that she is hopeful about the future of America despite having an outsider as the 45th President. President-elect Trump is known for his foul mouth and obnoxious statements about current issues and events.
"I just saw President-elect Trump with President Obama in the White House and it gave me hope," said Oprah. "To hear President-elect Trump say that he had respect for President Obama, it felt that he had reached a moment where he was actually humbled by that experience," the TV show, actress and producer continued to say as quoted by ET Online.
In a different report, President-elect Trump said he is honored to be with President Obama and expects to be with him for couple of times.
A report from Associated Press quoted Oprah saying, "hope is still alive" after President Obama told the media he is confident about a peaceful transition of administration. Oprah believes President-elect Trump is on a humbling process as he already has the weight of the world on his shoulders.
The victory of President-elect Trump, who garnered 306 Electoral College votes compared with Clinton's 232 votes, surprised the whole world and caused hundreds of Americans to stage protests in various cities. President-elect Trump's visit to the White House was after a phone-call invitation from President Obama following the Election Night.
