'Netflix' Original Content Coming To Comcast 'Xfinity X1' Cable TV Box With Free One Month Trial

On hindsight, Netflix and Comcast Xfinity X1 make an unlikely pair. Netflix is an online streaming platform that is transitioning to more original content, while Comcast is a well-known cable TV service provider with the more conventional cord-filled approach. However, the modern and traditional have joined together for the sake of entertainment.

Starting November 10, Netflix content will be available in Comcast X1 which is like a DVR with video-on-demand selection. The Comcast Xfinity X1 functions as a portable cloud all in itself which can be accessed anywhere users go.

Netflix and Comcast partnership is favorable for both companies. Since Netflix is already transitioning to more original content, its 47 million subscribers will give a boost to Comcast. Comcast, on the other hand, with its new Xfinity X1 platform featuring live, video-on-demand, web programming, DVR, and its Xfinity X1 TV service will also be able to enhance Netflix's service. With this partnership, Comcast and Netflix subscribers will no longer have to pull cords and fumble different remotes. Subscribers can easily browse through Netflix app and cable TV simultaneously devoid of other devices.

Future subscribers, however, should be warned that the subscription is subject to the existing Xfinity X1 Internet data cap policies. Users can exceed the limit in two months within a year without incurring fees, which is a friendlier version than Verizon and Google Fiber's policies. Netflix HD video usually consumes 3GB per hour of continuous play, while Comcast is letting users stream videos in HD for 10 hours a day without capping the data.

No promotional discounts or rates are offered by either Comcast and Netflix. The subscription to Comcast and Netflix are solely between the subscriber and the service provider.

Comcast and Netflix partnership is by far the biggest cable-cordless partnership to date in the United States, both hoping to find favorable outcomes in this unlikely collaboration.
