The Walking Dead: Is There Room For More Than 'One Daryl'? - Norman Reedus Speaks

The Walking Dead Season 7, Episode 3 titled, The Cell, focused on Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), Dwight (Austin Amelio) and how life at the 'Sanctuary' goes under Negan's (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) ruling.

The episode which aired Sunday, November 6, have fans left wondering what could happen to everyone's favorite ass-kicker, Daryl Dixon. Some fans believe he will prevail, and endure. After all, he's endured far worse circumstances in his life.

Some fans of the comic series, however, begs to differ. Readers of The Walking Dead comic series by Robert Kirkman know that one Daryl Dixon does not exist in the graphic novel. Dwight, on the other hand, was introduced to the comic series after the show had begun and took inspiration from Daryl.

In the comic series, Dwight is the one wearing a leather vest, sporting a crossbow as his signature armor of choice for the apocalypse. Now that both men are in the TV series, this led fans to believe that one of them is going to die. After all, death is inevitable in a show where the undead roams the earth.

Norman Reedus and Austin Amelio shared their insight on the matter. Reedus, 47, explained that Daryl is broken. Despite fans refusing to believe that Daryl will be broken by Negan and co. Reedus begs to differ.

"If there's any residual effect from him (Negan) hitting him in the face," Reedus said, "He's assuming it's going to be on him."

The fan favorite also explained why Daryl is completely broken.

"You see shots of him being shoved down a hallway, and pushed by the head... And he's not fighting back, at all," said Reedus "He thinks he deserves to be there, and whatever is going to happen to him, he's just going to let it happen. He feels incredible guilt over what just happened. He's lost the will to fight back."

Reedus also explained that his character feels extremely guilty for causing Glenn's death.

"Glenn... He was the heart of our group," Reedus said. "He was the optimistic one. He had faith in people."

When asked about the parallels between their characters, Norman Reedus shared his two cents.

"I'm walking around the set, and someone is wearing my clothes. It's hard for me - Norman - to accept that," said Reedus. "Daryl wants to rip the rest of his face off," he added.
