Samsung May Discontinue Its Most Good Looking Phone, Galaxy Alpha
Samsung is planning to discontinue its most good looking phone, the Galaxy Alpha, according to reports. The company reportedly is planning to phase Galaxy Alpha out and replace it with Galaxy A5.
Galaxy A5 was recently launched in China and Taiwan and costs ~$375.
The report, published by South Korean publication ET News, added that the move is being made as a part of Samsung's efforts to lower prices due to the enforcement of the Terminal Distribution Structure Improvement Act in South Korea.
Quoting an insider, the report added that as soon as the inventory of the materials for the Galaxy Alpha is exhausted, the production of the phone will be stalled.
However, the report also cited an insider saying: "The 'Galaxy Alpha' is being produced currently. We may adjust the production quantity according to market reactions, though.Nothing specific has been determined yet with regard to the January release of the Galaxy A5."
Galaxy Alpha features a good looking compact body with metal frame, curved corners. It is also one of the slimmest Galaxy devices measuring with 6.7mm thickness, weighing 115 grams. Galaxy Alpha features a 4.7-inch HD Super AMOLED (720x1280p) display. The phone is powered by Samsung's Exynos octa core processor featuring 1.8GHz quad-core and 1.3GHz quad-core processors, coupled with 2GB RAM.
Galaxy A5 sports a 720p Super AMOLED display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, 2GB RAM. It features a 13MP rear camera and 5MP front-facing camera.
