Prince Harry Confirms Romance With Meghan Markle; Condemns Media For 'Racial Undertones' & 'Sexism' Towards Girlfriend
A statement released condemns how the British media reacts and takes coverage of American actress Meghan Markle, saying Prince Harry's girlfriend, a TV actress, has been subjected to abuse and harassment. It also confirms the romance between British Prince Harry and American TV actress.
The prince chose to keep silent about the rumors that he is secretly dating the 35-year-old "Suits" actress Meghan Markle. However, the communications secretary to the prince issued a statement, denouncing the "racial undertones," the "outright sexism" and the racism initiated by the "social media trolls" as well as the comments given to articles, which were all made public. The recent media coverage of the actress was labeled as "a line crossed."
It also briefly described how Princess Diana had to struggle amidst the paparazzi in order to reach her front door. Needless to say, Princess Diana died in a car crash while they were being chased by the paparazzi.
Meghan Markle is of mixed descent. Her mother is an African American while her father is Caucasian. But her mixed race does not prevent the actress from becoming successful in her field.
"Prince Harry is worried about Ms. Markle's safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her. It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms. Markle should be subjected to such a storm," the statement reads.
The prince is also aware that the media might react, saying that such "is the price she has to pay" but the prince thinks otherwise. The statement further clarifies that the media has already trampled upon their private lives.
Earlier, news said that Prince Harry struggles to keep his relationship secret because he does not want to scare Meghan Markle off. The prince is also hopeful that after the statement issued, the press will pause and reflect before making any further damage.
