NBA Rumors : Chris Bosh To Return to NBA Game in 2017? Will It Be A Sweet Reunion Between Miami Heat And Their Power Center??
The Miami Heat has entered the 2016-2017 season without Chris Bosh in its roster that is part of the NBA team's great Big Three, which included LeBron James and Dwayne Wade. Principal center and power forward player Chris Bosh is facing health issues while James and Wade have transferred to Cleveland Cavaliers and Chicago Bulls, respectively.
Chris Bosh was planning to return this season, but a failed physical exam in September 2016 prevented him from a return to the NBA scene, as reported by Miami Herald. This led Miami Heat team president Pat Riley to conclude Bosh's stint with the team. But the 11-time All-Star player's $118 million contracts signed in 2014 is still two years away from expiration.
According to reports, the Miami Heat has decided to keep Chris Bosh until March 2017 - a development that is under the watch of the NBPA or National Basketball Players Association. Miami Heat's move aims to prevent Bosh from being contracted by another team or even to play in the playoffs round.
The USA Today's Jeff Zilgitt reported that Chris Bosh's contract with Miami Heat is covered by insurance. Thus, he does not need to pay all of his remaining salary. The Zilgitt advised Bosh to apply for a disabled player exception. A designated physician can decide if an exception can be used towards another player if Bosh will miss the regular season, Zilgitt concludes.
ESPN's Zach Lowe explains that Chris Bosh could sign with another team if he were able to waive his contract. As per Lowe's analysis, "some team will absolutely sign [Bosh] for the minimum."
Chris Bosh is actively pursuing a return to the NBA. Is the Miami receptive to the idea of welcoming back Bosh from injury? Will it be a sweet reunion for the Heat and Bosh? We'll see in 2017.
