Warning: spoilers ahead.

A few weeks after the devastating The Walking Dead season 7 premiere, Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie Greene-Rhee in the series speaks out about what becomes of her character. After losing Glenn in the most gruesome way, Lauren explains how Maggie faces the journey onward.

Fans of the show are still reeling from the shock of Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) and Glenn (Steven Yeun)'s untimely demise. The episode, which gathered a near series-high of 17 million viewers, have left the whole fandom in tears and rage.

With Glenn being a bludgeon to death by Negan, Maggie was left widowed and expected. Fans will also know that everyone in Maggie's family has died in the series. First was her father, Hershel (played by Scott Wilson) after he was beheaded by the Governor. Beth Greene, Maggie's younger sister, followed shortly after, with a gunshot to the head all thanks to Dawn (Christine Woods).

All these tragic events left Maggie alone with no family, except for the baby inside her. Fans are still unsure whether the baby's safe. Lauren Cohan finally speaks about where the sole Greene family member will go in Season 7. She said:

"Negan gives Maggie vengeance, and I don't think that she's a vengeful person, but it's going to be a really interesting push and pull this season. You'll see how she lives on in honor of Glenn and vengeance of Negan, and it's a real war in her brain, and in protection of the baby. I liked the fact that Glenn says, 'I'll find you,' because she takes him with her. It's difficult to even encapsulate the grief like that."

One of the only benefits of the show killing its greatest characters is that with every death comes a purpose. And that purpose is to move other characters' stories forward. This is exactly what will happen in Maggie's character.

In the comic series, Glenn's death had made Maggie a stronger person, giving her enough strength and confidence to usurp the Hilltop's leader, Gregory. It is still unclear whether the show writers are going with this storyline.

One thing is for certain, the lost of her loving husband only made Maggie's growing resolve against Negan stronger. It should be fascinating for the fans to see where her story arc will go. And how the rest of the group are handling their respective grief.

Fans of the show are keen to see what role will Maggie take in defeating Negan.
