Pokemon GO Unveils First In-Game Event
The famous augmented-reality app for mobile, Pokemon GO, has come back for some an interesting update. Since it's Halloween, Niantic Labs, the guys behind the famous mobile app, has rolled out an update.
The Halloween event marks the first in-game event for Pokemon GO. Most of the update goes to the candy feature of the game where players can get not just three but six candies for every Pokemon they caught! Players who send Pokemon to the Professor will receive not only one but two candies in return! It provides a faster way of leveling up a Pokemon and a more rapid way of evolving them (if they evolve).
There's also an influx of candies when players walk with their Pokemon buddy. They could gain four times as much whenever they embark on journeys with their Pokemon Buddy on their shoulders. There's also the hatching of eggs, which you can only accomplish by traveling a particular distance for them to hatch. Players may gain twice as many candies as they normally would when they managed to hatch an egg during the Halloween event.

The catch rate has been improved in this upgrade, allowing players to catch more Pokemon easily, especially Ghost-type Pokemon like Gastly, Haunter and Gengar. Reports also say that Niantic included Cubone and Marowak into the roster, probably because of the backstory the two Pokemon in the original games. The event lasts from October 26 to November 1 in celebration of the Halloween event.
Here's a list of Pokemon that can be easily caught during the event:
-
Zubat
-
Golbat
-
Gastly
-
Haunter
-
Gengar
-
Hypno
-
Drowzee
The number of players who play Pokemon GO has dropped from 50 million to less than 30 million worldwide because of the lack of new features for the game. Even with the buddy system implemented, it's hard to entice players back into playing the game. With this Halloween event, Niantic hopes that it will bring back its old players due to an easier way of gaining resources.
Pokemon GO first launched last July 6, 2016, in Australia, New Zealand and the United States.
