Review: Doctor Strange Is Captivating!; Actors Justify Characters
Surpassing your usual kind of superhero movies, Marvel Comic's Doctor Strange (2016) delivers strangely attractive connection with its audience and its critics. The character of Doctor Stephen Strange itself may be perhaps one of the sell-outs of the movie. The actor, Benedict Cumberbatch, was able to give life to Doctor Strange - brilliant yet arrogant, rich yet unsatisfied, and sarcastic yet in a humorous way.
Despite his rather strong character, his fear of failure gave him away. He acted as if he was too brilliant and too good to make mistakes, that when an unfortunate accident changed his life, he felt betrayed. He lost and yet was determined to conquer the predicament that handcuffed him and disabled him from doing his usual routine. This led to a search for a way to cure himself from such agony: a trip to Nepal that introduced him not only to the Ancient One but also to his true self.
The part where the spirits of Doctor Strange and The Ancient One had a conversation while, Dr. Christine Palmer, portrayed by Canadian actress Rachel McAdams, was very illuminating. All along, Doctor Stephen Strange and perhaps many of the moviegoers, hold on to the thought that the fear of failure is his driving force to be great. But The Ancient One, whose character was justified by 55-year-old Tilda Swinton, taught him that it is exactly his fear of failure that keeps him from greatness.
Benedict Cumberbatch, 40, has gained acclaim not only from his satisfied viewers but also from the majority, if not all of the acknowledged reviews ever written for this anticipated film. Actors Benedict Wong and Rachel McAdams were equally fantastic with their respective roles.
Even the fiercest of the movie critics like Forbes and Rotten Tomatoes gave this eye candy astonishingly impressive reviews. This may be attributed to the fact that it gives its viewers the appetite not only for a capturing storyline and a set of wonderful actors, including Chiwetel Ejiotor, but also for a breathtaking visual experience.
Although a superhero seemingly neglected and hidden in the shelves for quite some time, Doctor Strange for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Doctor Strange was directed by Scott Derrickson and scheduled for release in the U.S.on November 4.
