Jasmine Tookes To Wear the Fantasy Bra at Victoria's Secret 2016 Fashion Show in Paris
Jasmine Tookes became a Victoria's Secret Angel only a year ago, but the model is already lucky to have the chance of a lifetime. It was announced on Wednesday that the 25-year-old Californian has been chosen to strut down the catwalk in the $3 million Bright Night Fantasy Bra designed by Eddie Borgo at the 2016 Victoria's Secret Show in Paris.
After being tapped by the 21st-annual Fashion Show’s creative director, Sophia Neophitou-Apostolou, Borgo and his team spent a total of seven months on the project, including 700 hours alone to hand sew the gems. The garment features 9,000 precious AWMouzannar jewels—including 450 carats of diamonds and emeralds that are set in 18-karat gold—valuing the bra at over $3 million, according to Forbes.
To ensure that it would fit Jasmine perfectly, it was shaped to an actual mold of her bust. Jasmine, who has worn it only once so far, admitted that 'it's pretty heavy,' according to Forbes. 'It weighs more than 450 carats, which is the heaviest bra I have ever worn,' she stated. 'I have known for five months, and I literally had to keep my mouth taped shut,' she told Daily Mail Online.
On Monday morning Victoria's Secret released a video revealing the very moment Jasmine learned she would be wearing the stunning bra, and the model was clearly shocked by the surprise. Jasmine was under the impression she would be on camera discussing the brand's bralettes, and her jaw actually dropped when she was asked if she would want to model the Fantasy Bra this year.
Jasmine said the first person she told was her mom, who was also overcome with emotion. The show, which airs on CBS on December 5, will be held in Paris for the first time, and Jasmine said it makes the special event even better.
Tookes successfully dominated a career in high fashion, walking for Chanel, Oscar de la Renta and DKNY during the spring/summer 2017 season earlier this fall. She also has been previously seen to take the catwalk for brands including Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein, as well as edgier labels such as Reem Acra and Public School.
She has been featured in high-profile advertising campaigns for Lancome, Jimmy Choo, and of course, Victoria's Secret, and her magazine covers include Spanish Vogue and French Elle. She is represented by the agency IMG, which counts fellow superstars Gigi Hadid and Gisele Bundchen on its books, and with 1.3 million Instagram followers and counting, we can expect to see a lot more of her in the future.
