Chicago Bears Jay Cutler: “Everyone could get axed”

The Chicago Bears have had a disappointing season after spending so much money on quarterback Jay Cutler. Cutler, who got benched but will start again this Sunday, stated that anything could happen with the Bears.

"I think you've just got to prepare yourself that anything can happen - that's kind of what I'm prepared for," Cutler said, via Mark Potash of the Chicago Sun-Times. "I mean, everyone could stay. Everyone could get axed. You just never know what direction it's going to go. You have to stay open-minded and know that things happen for a reason."

The Bears are currently 5-10. General manager Phil Emery, Marc Trestman and the rest of the coaching staff could all be let go at the end of the season.

Cutler added, "Coaches could leave. Players could leave. I could leave. That's part of it. You've got to expect the least expected. Hopefully we make it through the next couple days without something else happening. You never know, though. Yeah, it's a different season. It's a weird season. A lot of things have happened. A lot of things haven't gone our way for numerous reasons."

When asked whether or not this Sunday's game will affect Cutler's future, Trestman stated, "We're playing the game as an independent entity. Jay's got to go out - as do the rest of us and his teammates go - and play at their best. I don't look at it as any more than that. We've got to play well enough to win, and we've got to play well at quarterback to win, too."

The Bears will play the final game of their season against the Minnesota Vikings at TCF Bank Stadium.
