Donald Trump Walk Of Fame Star Smashed To Pieces
Presidential candidate Donald Trump's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was smashed to pieces by vandalizers. The Walk of Fame star was destroyed so badly that chunks of it were missing from the sidewalk.
Five LAPD officers and yellow caution tape now surround what is left of Trump's Walk of Fame star. The police are investigating the matter further. It was reported that the star was destroyed with a pickaxe, as seen on a video footage.
Detective Meghan Aguilar says that investigators were called to the scene before dawn on Wednesday. However, the Los Angeles police already received a report on Tuesday that somebody was threatening to vandalize the stars.
When several officers went to check it out, it was too late, and the damage had been done. In an exclusive video from Deadline Hollywood, viewers can see a person dressed as a construction worker smashing the Walk of Fame start with a sledgehammer and a pickaxe.
Trump's star is located on Hollywood Boulevard right between Highland Avenue and Orange Drive. It is right across the street from the El Capitan Theatre. It has been targeted by several vandals in the past, but this recent occurrence had done the worst damage it has seen.
The words on the star had been scratched off, and the brass medallion is already gone. The police had set up a tent to cover the star. As a result of the mayhem, extra officers are patrolling around Hollywood.
An LAPD spokesperson informed reporters at the scene that the Chamber of Commerce was already sending out a crew to get the start repaired as soon as possible.
Multiple witnesses claim that the vandal started destroying the star around 6 a.m, and not a soul questioned what was happening at the moment.
"Because he had on a vest, a construction vest, he had on a construction hat, he had the dividers, so I just thought he worked for the city," said Gregory Howie, a street artist who was around the area when the vandalism started.
The police say that when caught, the suspect will face felony charges.
