Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg is making waves after she made an announcement that the 13 episodes in "Jessica Jones" season 2 is going to be directed by female directors.

Rosenberg made the huge announcement in a panel discussion at the University of Southern California in a conference titled "Transforming Hollywood 7: Diversifying Entertainment."

Rosenberg immediately gained support from the Hollywood community. Rachael Taylor tweeted her support. Finn Jones from "Iron Fist" also congratulated showrunner Rosenberg for starting a trend with "Jessica Jones."

Teen Vogue reported that "Jessica Jones" is just one of the many shows trying to make a difference in Hollywood by increasing the presence of women working behind the scenes in Hollywood. "Queen Sugar" is show that's being directed by a female director. "Transparent" have both female and LGBTQ directors.

In a data that was revealed by the Center for the Study of Women in Television and Film at San Diego State University, only 9 percent of the top grossing films are being directed by female directors. There's an outcry for a more diversified workforce in Hollywood.

Rosenberg revealed that idea didn't really come from her, but she really like it. Having an all-female director for "Jessica Jones" season 2 goes well with the theme of the show. Rosenberg also expressed that the need to create a diverse team not only in front of the camera but behind it as well. She also added that it is "a conscious decision and that it's very important that showrunners do that", Huffington Post reports.

It would be exciting to watch "Jessica Jones" season 2 moving forward, especially under the perspective of female directors. Exploring the main character of the series and how it will evolve in the future is quite intriguing.
