Mel Gibson Bags Hollywood Film Director Award
It is film award season once more, and it seems that Mel Gibson has luck on his side as he is set to receive this year's Hollywood Director Award. The annual Hollywood Film Awards is celebrating its 20th year at the Beverly Hilton on the 6th of November.
The Hollywood Director Award will be remarkable for Mel Gibson since Lionsgate's Hacksaw Ridge is his first directional film after 10 years. It will be starred by Andrew Garfield and is based on the true story of Desmond T. Doss, who is an Army medic whose heroism was recognized at the Battle of Okinawa. Doss refused to kill or even bring a gun with him during the war. The medic was given Congressional Medal of Honor for bravery. Actors Teresa Palmer and Vince Vaughn are among the casts of this movie that will be released on November 4.
This isn't the first time that Mel Gibson's effort was recognized. To remember, he also bags the best director award at Oscar last 1995 for the movie, Braveheart. Furthermore, there were also the recognitions he got for the movies The Passion of the Christ in 2004 and the Apocalypto in 2006. Just recently, he also starred in the action thriller movie Blood Father wherein many have good words to say about his acting.
Tom Hooper, Oliver Stone, David O. Russell, Ron Howard, John Schlesinger, Martin Scorsese and many others were Hollywood Director Award past honorees. Reports say that other awardees for this year are Tom Hanks, Nicole Kidman, Hugh Grant, and Tom Ford. It is Eddie Murphy who will receive the Hollywood Career Achievement Award.
The Hollywood Film Award is proudly produced by Dick Clark Production, and James Corden will be the host for this year. It will be a star-studded event where actors' contribution to the film is recognized.
