Celebrity' Owl with Millions of Followers Shot Dead in Oklahoma City

Oklahoma game wardens are trying to locate the people who shot and killed a local "celebrity" owl, with millions of followers all across the globe.  The owl belonged to the Great Horned species, which is federally protected, hence killing it is not tolerated by the authorities.

KFOR-TV reported that the owl was killed on the 4th of October, using a pellet gun. The owl gained a "celebrity" status after seven millions of viewers tuned in to watch the owl with her mate on a live camera feed for more than six years. In their report, KFOR added a video footage of a neighbor's surveillance camera wherein Mrs. Tiger was seen falling to her death.

Wade Farrar, a game warden, was distraught about the news saying that since it is a celebrity bird, "We treat it a little more special than if it was out in the woods and no one cared about that bird. This one had millions of followers all over the world."

The owl was owned by Jeff Click, who decided to set up the video stream for his daughter in 2010 after the owl nest in their window box at their Rose Creek home.  Alessondra Click, the daughter, named the pair of owls as "Mr. and Mrs. Tiger" after their markings. Upon knowing the death of her pet, the girl has only these to say "They were like a part of our family and when my parents told me it was like a pet dying, it made me really sad and kind of mad."

Millions of viewers were fascinated of the owl. In fact, the Click family received an email a few years ago saying that her mother had terminal cancer and during her last days on earth, she spent it watching the feed all day long. After the shooting, millions of fans expressed their sadness on the owl's social media account.
