UPDATE: Instagram Extends Its Hand in Self-Injury Hotline
Even Michael Jordan had his off-nights, we all have had our off-nights. Seeing our friend having one is more daunting. Good thing, Instagram extends its hotline on different countries all over the world, including Australia and several countries from Asia.
As per The Frisky, Instagram helpline works in a genius way. It happens when you see your friend's post may look a little bit somber, you could anonymously report it to the Instagram's helpline, your friend would receive a notification or message that says "saw one of your posts and thinks you might be going through a difficult time. If you need support, we'd like to help.", and your friend might get to talk with someone directly in the Instagram app.
According to Mashable, Instagram is sorting things with 40 organizations all over the world. Instagram is really eager to expand this helpline. The organizations include The Samaritan Befrienders Hong Kong and The Samaritans Hong Kong, Samaritans of Singapore, Taiwan Suicide Prevention Centre, South Korea's HopeClick; Korea Suicide Prevention Center; Ministry of Health & Welfare Call Center; Mental Health Center Crisis Counseling, TELL Tokyo English Lifeline, Australia's beyond blue; headspace; Kids Helpline, New Zealand's Lifeline Aotearoa and others.
Seventeen says that Instagram also worked with mental health experts, including National Eating Disorders Association and The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.
"These tools are designed to let you know that you are surrounded by a community that cares about you, at a moment when you might most need that reminder." Says Instagram chief, operating officer Marne Levine to Seventeen.
This brilliant feature was first introduced in the US several years ago. Now, Instagram is groping on it worldwide.
Sometimes, we just need someone to talk to. This feature could actually help in saving lives. Got to give credit to Instagram for heeding a serious issue that everybody's neglecting.
