Tobey Maguire & Jen Meyer Call It Quits After 9 Years Of Marriage

After nine years of being married, the "Spider Man" actor, Tobey Maguire and wife Jennifer Meyer, a jewelry designer, call it quits, reports say. The decision to separate was sudden, but mutual and without any drama, an insider source told the media.

"After much soul searching and consideration, we have made the decision to separate as a couple," a joint statement said as quoted by the U.S. Weekly. The couple have two children, Ruby, 9 and Otis, 7. Although the two are committed to friendship for their children's sake, the decision to split did not come easy as they had to go through it over and over. But in the end, the two said they realized they simply grew apart.

The custody, as well as the rearing and caring for the children will remain a joint effort as assured by the former couple. Maguire and Meyer described themselves as "devoted parents" with raising their "children together with enduring love, respect and friendship" as their first priority.

 It was in 2003 when the two met and after 4 years or in 2007, Tobey Maguire, now 41 and Jennifer Meyer, 39 married each other in Hawaii in a solemn ceremony with only family and a few friends who witnessed their exchange of vows.

A report from TMZ revealed Tobey Maguire and Jennifer Meyer are no longer together as early as June this year. A photo posted on the site shows Maguire with Sofia Richie in a club and while the "Spider Man" actor said he is not dating anyone of date, he is seen in public more recently, hitting popular clubs.

Tobey Maguire's fame peaked from 2002 to 2007 when he signed up for the lead role in Spider Man movie series, which all became highest-grossing movies on the year they were released. Despite that however, the new series of films about "Spider Man" featured a different actor.
