'Walking Dead' Season 7 Spoilers & Updates: Sneak Preview Video Imply Negan Killed Maggie?

"The Walking Dead" fans have to admire how extremely good the production is at keeping the fire burning until the premiere of Season 7 on October 23, 2016. A lot of questions, hints and assumptions have developed over the months waiting for the premiere of the seventh season.

Over at Comic Con in New York, the producers and cast members of the show shared a mouth-watering sneak preview of what fans can expect in the upcoming "The Walking Dead" Season 7 premiere episode. In it, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincon) glares at Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) - the camera angle just behind Rick - with fresh blood upon his right cheek, with the implication that Negan may have just killed the person beside him.

Rick then goes on to whisper, "I will kill you. Not today. Not tomorrow. But I'm going to kill you." Of course Negan replies immediately, asking Simon, his right-hand man, as to Rick's weapon (the hatchet), which he holds in front of Rick. He then goes on to mock Rick, asking him if he also has a right-hand man of his own, or is it that person who he just killed. After-which, he drags Rick into his own RV, holding the hatchet for some unknown purpose. The clip ends there.

Who was it that died? Maggie (Lauren Cohan)? Or Abraham (Michael Cudlitz)? Both of them were to Rick's right in the clip shown.

According to Digital Spy, it can be argued that an engagement ring can be seen next to the person killed. Even though Abe was closer to Rick. In addition, if it were Maggie killed, there would surely be more blood on Rick's face, right? Also, would the show go so far as to kill a pregnant woman on screen?
It is possible that the "man" who killed was Abe, even though Daryl (Norman Reedus), Glenn (Steven Yeun), and Michonne (Danai Gurira) are more likely choices for Rick's right-hand man.
In addition to this, there is the possibility that Rick may get his hand chopped off by Negan in the RV. In the "Walking Dead" comic series, this was done to him by the Governor as a punishment. In the TV series this never happened so it is possible that it may instead spin this iconic punishment by making it that it was instead Negan who did that to Rick?

Not only would this be a way to break Rick, it would also open up the season by informing the readers as to Negan's power and danger as a credible threat. It would set the stage for his personality, and for further acts he may commit throughout Season 7 of "The Walking Dead." Of course, there is the possibility that this is all a tease to rile up the fans and get them excited.

It wouldn't be out of the question, however, since "Walking Dead" Season 7 premiere director Greg Nicotero said other things happen in the first episode that are even more heartbreaking than the Negan kill. Rick being shamed and broken by losing his hand might just qualify as one of those things.

Catch "The Walking Dead" Season 7 Episode 1, October 23, 9 p.m. on AMC and on FOX in the UK on October the 23.
