J.R. Smith News & Update: Is Smith Deserving For His Salary Rate Demand? Take It Or Leave It?
A multi-year contract is what J.R. Smith is looking for with $15 million salary rate annually according to the report. He declined the Cavaliers' offer at about $10-11 million every year which made him un-signed and still a free agent. So, rumors are arising about the team moving on by picking another one like Allen, Martin and Hinrich. However, Smith and his team are still in the process of negotiating as the NBA season is nearly approaching.
It seems that the Cleveland management is not willing to meet the demand of J.R Smith as they have accepted and signed Tony Douglas as their backup point guard. Smith was surprised, and again he received an offer of three-year contract with $42 million rather than meeting his demand previously.

Moreover, Cleveland is bringing a newly recruit point guard/shooting guard player from the Pelicans into their home court. This is because guard Mo Williams confirmed about his retirement, according to Pelican De Brief. For the team, Having Tony Douglas would complete the roster and have him play behind Kyrie Irving.
