Natalie Portman to Play First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy in 'Jackie', First Trailer Out
If the wowed critics at the Venice Film Festival are anything to go by, we're awaiting an excellent performance from Natalie Portman as she stars in Jackie, the eponymous biopic of Jacqueline Kennedy, former first lady. If you want to make your own distinction, however, here's a sneak-peak in the form of a trailer.
The movie itself will revolve around the hardship that follows the assassination of former president John F. Kennedy. The former first lady's will and resolve is highlighted, and many Americans will be able to revisit just why she was able to earn the respect and admiration of many. It also helps that her dramatization was very well done, regardless of the actress initial misgivings on the limited improvisation available.
On this vein, Actress Natalie Portman has also shared some of her thoughts with The Wrap while assuming the role of such a well-known figure in recent history. "It was very daunting," she begins, "I had never played a role before that was someone that people really knew, how they looked and talked and moved so specifically."
That said, though, the limited viewers who were already able to see the film definitely laud her performance, with some going as far as saying it's a possible Oscar winning performance.
Still, credit where it's due, director Pablo Larrain was also credited by Portman to have helped relax her in the face of portraying such an iconic person. His direction in Ms. Kennedy's building up on the so-called Camelot days of the Kennedy presidency was also praised by critics.
As if to impress the point, the one line of dialogue Portman was able to share in the trailer is as follows: "People like to believe in fairy tales. Don't let it be forgot that for one brief, shining moment, there was Camelot."
Jackie will be out in theaters this coming December 2.
