Google Pixel and Pixel XL Specs, Features, Price and Release Date: New Google Android Smartphones Revealed

The highly anticipated launch of the Google Pixel and Pixel XL just happened during the Google event on Oct. 4 at.

Said phones are the third attempt of Google to sell its own phones including the Motorola and Nexus flagships. But this new Pixel phones are high-end and are dubbed as possible competitors to Apple's iPhone and Samsung's Galaxy series.

As expected, the new Google Pixel handsets come with Android version 7 nicknamed Nougat. It also features Google's AI-powered assistant Allo and the FaceTime-style app Duo.

The white Pixel looks like an iPhone but it has rear-mounted fingerprint scanner popular. Both Pixel units feature a USB-C charging port and will have 4GB of RAM as well as 12MP camera rear camera and 8MP front camera. It has a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a choice of 32GB or 128GB internal storage.

The smaller Pixel has a 5-inch Full HD AMOLED display, quad-core 2.0GHz 64-bit processor, 4GB of RAM and a 2,770mAh battery. Meanwhile, the Pixel XL comes with a 5.5-inch 2,560 x 1,440 AMOLED display with a quad-core Qualcomm processor, 4GB of RAM and 3,450mAh battery.

The 5-inch Pixel phone cost £599 while the larger 5.5-inch Pixel XL units are tagged at £719. Pre-order of the Google Pixel and Pixel XL started on Oct. 4 in the US, UK, Australia, Germany, and Canada. But it will be shipped to customers and will be available on shops on Oct. 20.
