PlayStation Now For Samsung Smart TVs Coming Soon
Sony PlayStation Now will be available on third-party devices, beginning with Samsung Smart TVs. As of now, the game-streaming service is only available for Sony devices, e.g., PlayStation consoles and Bravia TVs.
The new partnership between Sony and Samsung would bring PlayStation to selected Samsung Smart TVs, starting with United States and Canada, next year. The service can be used via an app available on Samsung Smart Hub.
PS Now is a collaboration between Sony and Gaikai - the provider of game-streaming technology. The service enables users to rent PS3 games and stream them directly to PS4, PS3, PS Vita consoles and Sony Bravia TVs.
The PS Now, according to Samsung, will offer "all functionality of the service." However, you would need a DualShock 4 controller, sold separately to use PS Now on Samsung TVs.
"PlayStation Now provides a new dimension to Samsung Smart TVs that consumers have been looking for-blockbuster PS3 games accessed through an intuitive interface that makes it easy to discover and play great gaming experiences," Youngchan Kim, vice president of Samsung Electronics, said in a statement. "We are excited to collaborate with PlayStation to deliver even more entertainment value to our Smart TV platform."
The first result of collaboration could be seen at the CES to be held next month in Las Vegas.
