New Xiaomi Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus flagships were recently released which challenges Apple's iPhone 7 with its specifications and features.

Both units run with Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 with dual SIM support, 4G LTE, USB Type-C, and a metal and glass construction. It is paired with 3GB, 4GB or 6GB of RAM, depending on the model. There is also a new ultrasonic fingerprint sensor which can work through the glass panel and is hidden right below the display, Beta News reported.

The new handsets also boast a better camera than the iPhone 6s Plus sensor. The Mi 5s now features a Sony-made IMX378 sensor that can capture 61 percent more light. It gets a 12MP unit with a f/2.0 lens, giving it the ability to take 4K videos at 30FPS.

The Mi 5s Plus has a dual-camera setup like the iPhone 7 with two sensors at 13MP each. It is similar to the Huawei P9 camera with one color sensor and another black and white sensor.

The Mi 5s features 64GB of UFS 2.0 storage with 3GB of RAM that is tagged at $299. Its 128GB of storage and 4GB of RAM model comes with a price tag of $345.

Meanwhile, the Mi 5s Plus also comes in two versions, one with 64GB of storage and 4GB of RAM for $344 and the other has 128GB of storage and 6GB of RAM that costs $389.

Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus available colors are pink, gold, silver and gray.

Xiaomi's release of the new phones is a good timing when Apple's market share is getting low in China dropping by 33% in the third quarter of 2016, Forbes reported. It appears that the absence of the headphone jack has a great effect on the market.
