Russian Authority Released Man Arrested For Playing 'Pokemon Go in Church

Russian local authority has released a 21-year old Russian who was arrested earlier this month for playing "Pokemon Go" in church. He is now placed under house arrest pending for trial.

The young man, Ruslan Sokolovsky, was reported to be released from prison according to Anime News Network. He was arrested for allegedly playing "Pokemon Go"  in the historic church in the city of Yekaterinburg in Russia's Urals. He is now under house arrest in his attorney's apartment.

He was supposed to stay in jail until November to wait for his trial. But his attorney filed an appeal against the arrest, and the court granted the appeal. He is now placed under house arrest in his attorney's apartment.

In Russia, the authority has issued a warning to ban people from playing "Pokemon Go"  in church. Those who violate will be punished under criminal law, based on the violation of freedom to worship and might result in a fine of up to 500,000 rubles ($7,700) or up to three years behind bars.

Before that, in August, the maker of the most successful augmented reality game Niantic has warned the players to stay alert of their surrounding and warned them not to tresspass while playing. Sokolovsky chose to ignore warnings from Russian authority and Niantic. He went into the Russia's famous cathedral, the Church of All Saints to catch"Pokemon Go" 

The news breakout early this month. As Russia Today reported that a young Russian man by the name Sokolovsky was arrested for two months after posting video on YouTube that showed him playing Pokemon Go inside the Church of All Saints.

In his YouTube video, he was seen throwing Pokéballs to catch a Poliwag Pokémon, while a priest was heard praying next to him. His video has gained 550,000 viewers in YouTube.

"Who can be offended by you walking with your smartphone at a church?..."he said in his video. Sokolovsky also admitted that hunting Pokemon in local church was successful, based on the number of Pokemon he acquired. But he must face dire consequences of his reckless action.

Following his arrest, the church forgive his action and according to AP, he was released and now placed under house arrest in his attorney's apartement.
