UFC: Chris Weidman Reacts To Michael Bisping's Recent Statements
Former middleweight champion, Chris Weidman speaks up over current UFC Middleweight Champion, Michael Bisping's recent statements against him. Weidman lost his title against Luke Rockhold at UFC 194 in December 2015, while Bisping dominated Rockhold on his first title defence. Weidman was originally set for a rematch but had to pull out due to a neck injury and was replaced by Bisping.
The trash-talk between the two started when Weidman called Bisping out on Instagram after his win over Rockhold at UFC 199 and challenged him to meet at UFC 205. According to Daily Star, he continued to stir things up against Bisping by accusing him of using performance-enhancing drugs which Bisping absolutely denies the allegation saying he has been in the sport for 10 years and never been tested positive on PEDs.
According to MMAFighting.com, Weidman said in an interview on The MMA Hour, that he is embarrassed to say that Michael Bisping is the current champion in his division. Weidman also mentioned that Bisping has been with UFC for the longest time and have not gotten a title match. Bisping only got the title match because Weidman had to pull out because of his injnury.
Based on report by Fox Sports, Bisping fired back by saying Weidman is probably just embarrassed that he was able to knockout the guy who took his title away from him. "He should be embarrassed more for the fact that he got his ass absolutely kicked, but I went out there and knocked Luke out in the first round," Bisping said.
The former middleweight champion does not care what Bisping has to say about him. He would rather fight Bisping in the Octagon and get back the belt he once had. In Weidman's interview with Fox Sports, he said that "The guy has been hating on my accomplished career since the beginning." "I came in and went right through the ranks and was fighting Anderson Silva for the championship at 9-0, meanwhile that guy was in the UFC for I don't know how much longer than me and has way more fights than me and wasn't close to getting to that point," he added.
Both fighters have scheduled fights, but not against each other. Bisping will bedefending his belt against Henderson at UFC 204. Weidman is set to fight against for UFC 205.
