Google Introduces Incognito Mode In Its Upgraded iOS App
The newly-launched upgraded Google Search app for iOS has a number of new features and for iPhone users, the most interesting of them will be the ability to carry out secret searches.
The app now includes one of the most useful features of Chrome which is the Incognito mode. Under this mode, the browser does not record any details of the browsing session - website history, caches, download lists, cookies, accounts log-ins and passwords, none of this is saved. It helps users browse with privacy.
While the feature is standard for mobile browsers, the Search app so far hasn't provided it. The upgrade fixes this gap and avoids users having to open a browser for such needs. More interestingly, the app has incorporated a new security feature that brings additional privacy.
Google has upped the security levels by offering an option to access the app only with the Touch ID. This will guarantee that only those authenticated through the fingerprint scanner can use the app.
This is particularly relevant and useful because Google doesn't close private searches when the app is exited, a feature in place for the convenience of users. By requiring an additional layer of security, it ensures that open searches cannot be viewed inadvertently by others using the phone.
The app has a similar UI as Chrome. Once in the Incognito mode, the app turns on the dark theme just like Chrome.
The other two major changes introduced in this upgrade are: accessing YouTube videos in the app itself and a more stable performance.
With the new feature of viewing YouTube videos directly in the app, users will no longer be required to open the YouTube app or a separate webpage. This reduces load time and allows users to access videos faster.
The new upgraded app will also perform better. Google has promised that the changes made to app will make it twice as reliable and far less likely to crash.
