Apple Is Working On New HealthKit Apps Designed For Apple Watch
Apple seems to have a strong focus on health and medical initiatives as it strives to come up with a feasible HealthKit solution as reported by Bloomberg. The company is now on its way to collect information from the user using its software and provide a suggestion for the concerned person, health care physicians, and others. At the moment, Apple is developing its new sleep tracking and fitness apps designed for Apple Watch. The report does not give a time frame for the release of these apps for Apple Watch watch OS 3.1 that is yet in its beta state.
This development comes at a time when the company is on a hiring spree, focusing on experts in the medical fraternity. In the early part of this year, Apple acquired a tiny startup called Glimpse that creates health record database technologies. The most concrete development made by the company in the health sector involves the creation of an electronic health record software that can cumulatively centralize a person's medical data, said Bloomberg. One important initiative related to this includes development of hardware in the Apple Watch, which in particular are biometric sensors.
Many health care experts hired by Apple in the past have been consistently building enhanced software that can have a better comprehension and analysis of a patient's data, according to sources close to the company's plans. Currently, Apple has an app that's able to measure the heart's rate but unable to interpret the data; however, the new HealthKit will have the power to do so. The main objective of the medical technology team at Apple is to transform HealthKit into a robust tool that's able to give an accurate diagnosis, said the sources.
It's apparent that Apple is now on its way to beef up its HealthKit, eventually helping consumers as well as medical professionals. Tim Cook, CEO Apple, wants the company to emphasize on software and services and make people heavily reliable on the company's products.
