'One-Punch Man' Set To Make a Comeback With Second Season, Gets New App
It was announced last Sunday that ONE and Yuusuke Murata's hit manga and anime franchise "One-Punch Man" will be renewed for a second season during the height of the recently concluded fan-festival for the series. To mirror the announcement, the show's production team tweeted a photo of what may happen to be the title screen for Season 2.
In addition to the looming second season of the series, the staff has also announced that "One-Punch Man" will be getting a smartphone app next year, all in conjunction with its impending animated return.
The first season of the show aired in Japan from October - December 2015, receiving praise and acclaim in part to its distinct style and homage to various shonen and superhero tropes. In addition, Daisuki and Viz Media streamed the show internationally while it ran in Japan.
Set in the fictional Z-City, "One-Punch Man" focuses on the exploits of Saitama, an individual who possesses strength, speed and reflexes beyond any powered entity or human. However, due to his infinite power, he has become bored with his strength and is constantly trying to find stronger opponents who can actually pose a challenge to him. As of writing, ONE's original manga run has released 107 chapters, and has received a re-draw courtesy of "Eyeshield 21" artist Yuusuke Murata. The redrawn manga then got published as a part of Weekly Shonen Jump's growing line.
No dates were given yet regarding the show's second season.
