Gay Porn Actor Luka Magnotta Sentenced for Brutal Murder, Mailing Body Parts
Luka Rocco Magnotta, 32 years-old, has been found guilty in the gruesome death and dismemberment of a Chinese exchange student in 2012.
The Associated Press reports that Magnotta will spend the rest of his life in prison for the killing of 33-year-old Jun Lin in Montreal.
Magnotta was a male escort and porn actor who killed his love Lin and mailed some of Lin's body parts to Canadian schools and political organizations. Lin's foot was sent to Canada's Conservative Party headquarters, while his hand was sent to the headquarters of Canda's Liberal Party. The other hand and foot were sent to schools in Vancouver.
The AP says that Magnotta tried to win his trial by claiming insanity.
The jury did not buy that argument, due in large part to one particular piece of evidence. Before killing Lin, Magnotta's first forays into murder were the torture and killing of cats. Magnotta would then post the videos online. When a journalist was able to figure out that Magnotta was behind the brutal cat videos and asked Magnotta about them, Magnotta told the reporter, Alex West, that the cats were just a start.
Beyond mailing parts of Lin's body, Magnotta made a video tape of him desecrating the corpse by stabbing it multiple times and have sex with it.
Magnotta fled the country after mailing the packages, and was arrested in Berlin. He was recognized by an employee at an internet cafe Magnotta frequented to read up on news of his exploits.
The AP says that Lin's father traveled to Canada from China to watch the trial and ensure that his son received justice. Lin's father also said that he hoped for some sort of expression of regret or remorse from Magnotta, but no such expression occurred during the trial.
