Florida Woman Tries to Pay Hitman with Pizza Delivery Van
47-year-old Florida woman Tanya Demirhan reportedly hated her husband so much that she wanted to have him killed, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office. The couple have been married for over 17 years and together they own a pizza parlor in Lakeland, according to ABC News.
Tanya Demirhan allegedly offered to pay $10,000 to the undercover officer to finish the "job." However she didn't have that much cash to pay for the "service." She then agreed to pay in an unconventional way: to transfer vehicle titles to the officer, including a pizza delivery van for the parlor the couple co-operates together, the authorities said.
She also signed an affidavit for the rest of the money that wasn't covered by the transfer of the vehicles.
Tanya Demirhan also asked the hitman to give her advice on how to react to her husband's death so she could make sure the authorities will believe her genuinity. In a conversation that was recorded as a part of the undercover operation, she asks: "What should I do in front of the police? Just cry?" and the the officer says: "Yeah, that's what I would do."
Later, Demirhan sent a picture of her with her spouse to the officer so that the he can recognize his "target."
On saturday, Demirhan was pulled over by the authorities in a traffic stop, then she was brought to the police station, where she received the "bad news" about her husband, that he was dead. In a video provided by the authorities, she starts crying and saying "It's too much, too much. He said 2015 is going to be good", acting devastated by the news.
After six minutes of the ploy, Demirhan was introduced to her hitman and she was arrested later. She is charged with solicitation to commit first-degree murder.
