After the huge success of George Miller's fourth "Mad Max" movie, "Fury Road," it would come as no surprise that a sequel could be in the pipeline. However, a recent report have stated that we need not to wait longer.

According to a report published by the Australian newspaper Herald Sun, production phase is now underway for the said movie's prequel, and unlike previous outings of the franchise, it won't be featuring Tom Hardy's character. Rather, the focus will be aimed at Charlize Theron's iconic Furiosa, who appeared in the fourth film.

This report clashes with last year's headline regarding a potential follow-up to "Fury Road." It was announced that Miller's next "Mad Max" film will be titled, "The Wasteland," with Tom Hardy set to reprise the role. Furthermore, Hardy revealed during an interview with Esquire that he is attached to do three more films under the franchise's banner. In addition, Miller opened up to TopGear.com last year, and shared that they have drafted two scripts during the movie's conception, and they are now working on finalizing the scripts.

For now, it would be ideal to take Herald Sun's report with a grain of salt, since no concrete announcement's been made just yet regarding a "Mad Max" film in production.
