Apple Watch 2 Release Date, Specs, Features, News & Update: Product Introduced; Equipped With GPS & S2 Chip?

Apple introduced the company's second generarion smart watch. The new Apple Watch 2 is geared up with GPS, S2 chip and ceramic back.

Apple Watch 2 looks similar with its predecessor, the first generation. However, it has some enhancement which Apple Insider considered as subtle. The augmentation from its first generation is the new waterproof design, GPS and distance tracking for workout purpose.

Such enhancement to improve its function to fitness-tracking and workout made The Verge finally called Apple Watch 2 as fitness tracker. When the first generation Apple Watch was out in April 2015, it had an elegant design with lack of key compenents. The first generation smartwatch from the Cupertino-based company must give way to its competitors that offer much better function.

Based on the experience, Apple learned that people use smartwatch for health and fitness-tracking purposes. Application such as Fitbits that enable people to track their workout paving the way for smartwatch to provide easy way to house the application. The first generation of Apple Watch in comparison to Apple Watch 2 lacks some features and specs.

During its first introduction in 2014, many people had high expectation with Apple Watch. When it finally released on April 24, 2015, Apple Watch gain a successful sale. But, other competitors soon caught up with better function and design. Owing to that, Apple aims on branding the Apple Watch 2 with such elegance and power features.

According to CNN, upon reviewing the Apple Watch 2, the first noticeable change is in its display which is two times brighter. This enable its wearer to see the display better during outside activity. Apple also finally introduce Apple Watch 2 with a waterproof design.

Apple Watch 2 is offered with two options, aluminum and stainless steel. The aluminum has a $369 price tag, while the stainless steel is $549. The watch can be paired with a variety of bands - sporty, leather or nylon. In order to appease shopper who aim for luxurious goods, Apple releases Apple Watch 2 with ceramic body, sold for $1,299.
