Lindsay has personal issues, too, and is having a hard time looking for ways to be romantically attached with her husband again. Later scenes for "You're the Worst" Season 3 showed how Gretchen turned to Jimmy's confidante, Edgar (Desmin Borges).

However, the episode of "You're the Worst" Season 3 progressed with Paul insisting and told Edgar to do it instead. Later on, they found themselves witnessing Jimmy listening to a voicemail after he decided to call his father. This was Gretchen's cue that she needed to raise the topic to Jimmy.
