Digimon World: Next Order West Release in Early 2017 for PS4, Vita

By Staff Reporter - 16 Sep '16 02:59AM

Thanks, in part, to considerable interest and the successful sales of Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth, Digimon World: Next Order is coming to the West early next year! At first, it was originally meant for only a PS4 release, but recent updates have shown that it'll get a digital release for the Vita.

Regardless, the PS4 release comes with updated graphics, both English and Japanese VO, and new missions to boot. Polygon adds to this by reporting that Bandai Namco is also balancing the game better, making it more difficult than its Japanese Vita release. In addition, 12 new additional Digimon are being added to the game. Some of which are as follows: MarineAngemon, IceDevimon, and Boltmon.

The actual gameplay is that of an open-world roleplaying game. With around 200 Digimon to choose from and the ability to train and bring two simultaneously, players won't get bored exploring the massive world that the game boasts.

The battle is also done with a little twist. Instead of the usual full-on AI or full-on controlled battle, the Next Order battle system includes a type of synchronization. This means that the bond between trainer and Digimon will actually affect the latter's efficacy in battle.

Everything is also considered real-time, from training and interaction to discipline and evolution. This actually brings me back to the very first Digimon World game. That was a definite classic, hard as it was. One wrong move and you'll end up with a Sukamon! Or maybe a Numemon? Regardless, not exactly what you're going to be looking for to fight with at your side. I won't judge if it is, though. This can only make fans more excited to find out just how good the game is, what with the updated and enhanced graphics and balanced gameplay mentioned earlier.

The story revolves around two high-school students that are transported into the Digimon World. They arrive just in time to see the Village of Beginnings destroyed before them. Naturally, they choose to help. What becomes of it? Well, wait a bit until the release in the first three months of next year to find out!

Stay tuned here for more updates.
