Elderly man drives his car into his pool (VIDEO)
What's the difference between a carpool and a car in a pool? Well, an 85-year-old Los Angeles man found out the hard way after his car landed in the pool when his footwear stuck on the pedals, according to KNBC-TV.
"He told us that his shoe or sandal got caught in the pedals of the vehicle and drove through the door in the rear part of his garage and into his swimming pool," LA county Fire Department Jeffrey Sims said.
Officers responded around 11:45 a.m. to a report in Altadena of a car crashing into a pool in the 2700 block of Scripps Place, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department told KNBC-TV.
The man was pulling into his garage when the crash occurred, Los Angeles County Fire Department Capt. Jeff Sims told the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.
The driver told authorities that his flip-flops were entangled with the pedals and caused him to lose control of his car.
There was also no one in the swimming pool, said police.
The driver was able to escape before his car met its watery end, reported Metro.
The same year, a 60-year-old Massachusetts man crashed his RV through a fence and into his neighbor's in-ground swimming pool.
