Wayne Rooney to quit international football
Wayne Rooney, the present captain of England's football team has announced to quit international football carrier after the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Wayne Rooney, who started playing professional football at the age of sixteen and international games at the age of seventeen, is all set to quit the international level football after fifteen years of his carrier and the player will be 34 at the time of 2018 world cup-Russia. The Manchester United player will continue to play the club matches until the end of his contract. Rooney fans around the world are disappointed after the retirement decision of such a great football player which England currently has. The player has a great achievement of 53 goals in 115 international England appearances.
According to Telegraph UK, Rooney will continue to play for Manchester United and currently the player has to finish three years of his contract. After the world cup 2018, Russia -the player will have one year left in the contract to take a decision whether to continue further in United club or not.
England's captain Rooney said at the press conference - "I will carry on playing, certainly at club level."
He added - "I will have a year left at United then [2018]. I've said to United I want to stay there, finish my career there, so it's a case of sitting down with United when the time's right. I've still got three years left [on his contract]. I obviously, hopefully, want to finish my career at United."
"Going into the World Cup, hopefully we qualify, the time will be right, it will be my 15th season playing for England, and in anyone's terms it's a long time, so I just felt the time would be right then."
"Realistically I know myself that Russia will be my last opportunity to do anything with England. Hopefully I can end my time with England on a high."
"I said before the Euros I enjoyed playing in this team, and that's the case still. There were some questions about whether I should stop playing, but I am looking forward to getting back on the pitch.
"I made my mind up before the Euros, whether we did well or not, that I was going to continue. I've had nothing to think about since then. My mind is made up... Russia will be my last tournament."
After Rooney plays the World cup Qualifier in Slovakia on Sunday, the player will break David Beckham's record for the most capped outfield England player.
