Meizu MX6 is now confirmed with a 5.5’’ screen and Helio X20
Meizu MX6 was made official today at a dedicated event in Beijing. The phone leaked numerous times in the past few weeks, so we knew pretty much everything, but at least we can now confirm its specs. The MX6 bets on the metal unibody (7.25mm thick), and uses the refined antenna bands we saw on the Meizu Pro 6. As expected, the MX6 has a 5.5" Sharp-made display of 1080p resolution, covered with a 2.5D glass to boost its looks.
The MX6 is powered by the Helio X20 chip with a deca-core processor (2x A72@2.3GHz, 4x A53@2.0GHz, 4x A53@1.4GHz), Mali-T880MP4 GPU, and 4GB of RAM. The Pro 6 used Helio X25 chip, which has a slightly faster A72 cores and a tad higher clock on the GPU.The main camera is quite interesting - it's a 12MP Sony IMX386 1/2.9" type sensor with 1.4µm pixel size and f/2.0 lens, phase-detection AF, and dual-tone flash. This should be the first phone to use this sensor and Meizu says its quality is similar to the Galaxy S7 series' snappers. The Speed 8 has a USB Type-C connectivity port, supports fast charging and LTE connectivity.
The rest of the MX6 specs highlights include 32GB storage, a 5MP selfie shooter, dual-SIM support, LTE Cat.6 connectivity, and a 3,060 mAh battery capable of fast 24W charging. Finally, the MX6 runs on the latest Flyme with a Marshmallow core.
The phone will be available in the traditional Gray, Gold, and Silver flavors. The first market to get the Meizu MX6 is China - it is priced at CNY 1,999 ($299) there. The registration process opens today, while sales begin on July 30.Meizu will be also offering a Loop Jacket accessory - it's a flip case with a circular viewfinder for CNY 99 ($15). A special LifeMe Bluetooth speaker will be also on sale for CNY 399 ($60).
